How it Works

We Charter the Boat
Reefing Havoc partners with trusted brokers such as Dream Yacht, Moorings, and Navigare to book the fleet at a slight discount and passes on the savings to our guests. We look for good value monohulls and catamarans in the 38ft to 60ft size range.

We Find a Captain
Our captains, usually friends, are experienced sailors who lead with skill and good humor. We let them sail for free in exchange for keeping you safe!

You Claim a Cabin
We price cabins modestly (usually $1,800–$3,000) to cover costs. Once aboard, everyone pitches in by throwing lines, cooking, tidying, and making the odd drinks.

Result
You get to experience a professional-grade sailing trip that feels like you’re just cruising with friends! We organize fun competitions, hand out prizes, and get you to destinations you may not otherwise get to experience.

About Reefing Havoc

After a two seasons teaching ASA 101 on the Hudson River, Matt decided he would rather sail with his friends than short-tempered investment bankers. He met Arjun in business school, who also happened to be a fellow sailing instructor, and in 2012 they organized their first flotilla together.

Reefing Havoc brand and concept is owned by Reefing Havoc LLC, a private limited liability company registered in Seattle, WA. Reefing Havoc LLC acts as a travel agent, renting (or chartering) boats to qualified skippers or captains, our clients. The company facilitates the sale of individual cabins for our clients and organizes the flotilla under the Reefing Havoc brand.
